First Class at New Location--First United Methodist Church--on February 18!

We are moving to a new location to have classes, beginning next Tuesday, February 18, at 6 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 7020 Cass Street. Liz Emis, Minister of Education at First United, contacted us to see if we would be willing to work with a group of students who wanted to focus on learning to choose credible sources and utilizing research to discuss and debate issues effectively.

We met with Ms. Emis and agreed to have our classes there for 2025. We will begin by learning how to find and assess solid sources of information, a task which keeps becoming more difficult, and then move on to explore both sides of the debate topic chosen this year for Omaha Metro area middle school debate competitions: The United States Federal Government should provide free healthcare to every American citizen.

My co-teacher Payton Evans and I are excited to get started with working with students for our 8th year in Guided by Kids!
